Echinacea

And here I welcome the main target plant of the summer: Echinacea angustifolia!

This handsome fellow is, as you may note from looking at the flowering head, is in the Asteraceae family, aka the Composite or Sunflower family.

Today involved looking through the common garden for flowering plants (none yet, but a couple were close, probably starting tomorrow) and I spent the afternoon looking for Hesperostipa (porcupine grass, for my project and adopted project) and Heliopsis for Greg's experiment.
