Training under the oak

This is perhaps the most majestic Oak tree in Southgate park. The sun sets just behind it and creates long dark shadows that spear out across the field. Tonight there was a group fitness training underneath it. You miss them at first but with closer inspection you can just see them just to the left.
It's been a long, hot day. Went over to Discovery Channel this afternoon to listen to a tedious meeting where they try and arrange the TV schedule around the advertising space they can sell. In fact i think most of the programmes are made with that in mind. The ride back with our cab driver was enjoyable though. Roger is like a tour guide of London. "That's Bernie Ecclestone's place...the one with 2 cars outside, one reading '2 BE' and the other reading 'NOT 2 BE'" It also turned out that half the Rolling Stones had pads along the same stretch of the Thames (opposite Battersea park). I hadn't realised they were virtual neighbours (some of the time). After that it was a sweaty 10 mile bike ride home...and then over to this park with Tia (the Spaniel). Being here was by far the best part of the day, and the most down to earth and real.
