Pastiched Mustache

It's not a lifestyle, it's a key
in the door. It's a key
on a shoestring dangling often
down my neck fashioned from
memories; A key cut
for turning and pushing
stubborn cylinders called "mistakes."
It's a key in the door, familiar
with the orphic genius of Tarkovsky.
Unconcerned with truant pens
covered with teeth marks, this un-locker
seldom sees abluted fingers or intentions as
altruistic as stars. Intentions
as philanthropic as a black hole
encumber the key in the door
struggling to open, straining
to beat over the head and pull in
some unconscious sunlight onto my feet.
These hands are a collage
of rocks, rivers, and trees
with a touch of telephone wire
garlanded with shoes.
They remember like elephants.
It's not a lifestyle that motivates
the fingers. It's a key that makes campaign promises
that are realized.
