busy day
I started early today, making use of the fact that I always wake up at 6 anyway, I just got up and got going and ignored the fact that it was Sunday and I could have a lie in. It was really lovely and peaceful, just me, the birds, our animals and the hum of the milking machines from the neighbouring farms - got the garden watered, animals fed, bread made...then went back to bed for an hour before getting up again for a leisurely breakfast outside in the sun. Did loads of laundry and picked loads of herbs for my special spitzimixi tea that we'll drink all winter. The kids and husband then went off to the lido while I got some boring stuff out of the way (bills, admin, crap) and cooked a ton of food to get us through the first bit of the week. Then we got on our bikes and cycled over to the bro-in-laws for a barbecue, ate and cycled back. We got home just as the sun was setting...shower & bed for the littles...'nother one of them there martinis for me :-)
This photo was taken on our bike ride, we went through a place I've never been before - it was a massive plain and had some really ancient trees. As it was just below the 100m rise up the old walled town I assume that it might have been a battlefield once a upon a time, it certainly looked like the kind of place that should be filled with knights and banners and stuff. This drinking trough was at the foot of the most wonderfully gnarled and impressive tree. We were a bit blown over by the place.
