Drama at the Beach

This kind man was offering that hot and tired wee baby American Oyster Catcher some shade with the umbrella as the little one tried to keep up with Mama up ahead to the safety of the nest. The baby bird kept taking time-outs under various beach chairs for shade and rest, much to his parents' frantic cries to follow them and the exasperation of the beach crowd when he'd follow for a while but then veer off for another beach chair. This went on for well over an hour, with the father chasing away hovering seagulls. Quite unusual entertainment for a hot summer day on the beach!
