I meant to photograph more Golden Barley....
....but I stopped at the graveyard in Athelstaneford instead.
On the other side of this stone is an Angel. But this side,
the grim side, was always more convincing in the old
(and still churning) Scottish thought.
PS: The greatest spoken word recording ever made is
'Macgowran reading Beckett'. Jack Macgowran was a great
but self-destructive Irish actor: Samual Beckett and his brother
played Schubert's 'Death and the Maiden' between readings:
