Army Discharge 1919

It is a very wet day today and I spent some time sorting out old papers and I found my Fathers army discharge. He was discharged in October 1919 almost a year after the end of the war. Nearly 90 years ago!!
In 1918 he was wounded and left on the battlefield, A German prisoner carried him back to a dressing station where he had to wait as priority was being given to lightly wounded men who could be returned to duty. He went unconscious and when he came to he was laid out among the dead and was discovered by a man who was taking the dog tags and equipment off the dead.

But for the German prisoner who carried him back he would have died and I would not be here. As my Father said 'There is no glory in war'
