Sleeping Swan

There were a pair of beautiful swans on Sefton Park lake untill just over a week ago. The swans had five cygnets and all was well untill a dog killed the female and left her mate to bring up the young. He is doing this well . Last week the sleeeping swan appeared and has been keeping a distance from dad and young. I'm not sure the gender of the new arrival but it would make a sad story eventually turn into a new beginning for the bereft swan if the new arrival was a female.
