Local excitement

While the World Cup is progressing, the College World Series crowned a winner late last night. The neighboring state University of South Carolina won over the University of California (Los Angeles).

The game (which I watched) was not over by the time the newspapers went to press. What greeted me this morning when I opened the paper was an inconclusive update for those who failed to watch 'til the end last night. The USC nine managed an extra inning rally and won the title - their first ever College World Series trophy.

Back to World Cup today (Go Holland). Sports have a way of shielding your mind, for awhile at least, from the trials and tribulations going on around the world.
