Fishy litter

So the journey begins. My first stop on my grand independent womanhood adventure is the Uinta Mountains of northern Utah. The Uintas, at 150 miles long, is the largest transverse range in the United States. The high country of the western portion of the range reminds me dramatically of Yosemite's high country.

My first destination was a place called Mirror Lake (also reminiscent of Yosemite). This is a lovely alpine lake, but unfortunately, given its close proximity to a scenic byway, it is highly visited and therefore highly polluted. I've never seen nearly so much garbage in a high country lake. I pulled out a lot of it--it breaks my heart to see a place like that so decimated by trash--but these are just the fishing lures and bobbers I found.
