He's home!!
Charlie is home from his first school trip, a whole week away. First thing he did was play with his baby brother and second, crash out on the floor and watch Doctor Who! He is exhausted from spending his nights in his dorm chatting with his friends and his days marching all over the Isle of White for hours on end.
I keep looking at his face for signs that he's changed in the last week, if he has new marks or a new air of maturity about him, if the taste of independance has made him more ready for the leap to senior school this September. I can see it you know, a slight tilt to the head he didn't have before, a confidence, and it makes me so proud and it also breaks my heart a little. I don't know how you do it? How you let them go out in to the big wide world and grow up?
I feel I will never cut the apron strings, I think I will just get new ones made of elastic and let them stretch ;-)
