Seathwaite Tarn, Duddon Valley, Lake District
- Backblip - Lake District Day 3.
A favourite walk, we have been here many times. We once came down from the summit of The Old Man of Coniston on these scree runs. Another day of great weather affording excellent views of the area.
We were surprised at the low water level in the reservoir and I have included the markers which we have not seen before. The lack of rain is certainly causing concern to the local farmers.
I spent some time taking waterfall shots at Walna Scar Road, and then we walked down to Seathwaite Bridge, which is the inspiration for the Postman Pat scene when his van goes over the humped bridge. I might just open up my Blipfolio at long last and put some of these images on. Finally we walked on to the Fickle Steps - Stepping Stones with a tensioned wire to hold on to. The river was easily crossed today, but a couple of years ago, at the same time of year, it was impossible to attempt, as the river was too deep.
