Housemartins, Build.

OK so there's no men in hardhats but you get the jist. These are some of the cranes that have populated the skyline in our town centre for most of this year. They're supposed to mark the beginning of a period of 'exciting regeneration and opportunity' but to me all they stand for is the desperate quest of our local council to earn our town 'City' status.

Everyone is hoping for an influx of 'good' shops and a few things to actually DO in the town other than get throwupablyleathered on a friday or saturday evening, but I'm gonna hedge my bets that all we get is some slightly more expensive pay&display parking and a bigger selection of 'everything for a pound' shops (due to the fact that most of the 'new' shops in the new development will simply be vacating premises from elsewhere in town).

Oh, and a few more roundabouts where the cathedral should be ;-)
