Where wax letter seals come from

This evening I tried the reverse lens technique for the first time, and I was AMAZED! Who really needs an expensive macro lens when you can just turn your regular lens backwards? To give you an idea if you've never tried this before, pictured is a personalized seal for sealing letters, the head of which is quite a bit smaller than a postage stamp.
