the citadel

This is across the valley from my office. It is the last part of a gaol (jail) that used to sit on the site, and was the Governors House. With the exception of the foundation stones, the rest of the stone from this jail was used to built the Hopes Reservoir in East Lothian.

Alegedly now the home for some Spooks, its baronial form makes me think of hilltop keeps.
