Still going strong
Back on 3rd February I almost made this my blip of the day. Perhaps that notice was a calculated bluff, but there was definitely no sign today that Carluccio's has gone out of business. It was especially good to see the entire front wall of windows fully opened, a testament to the remarkable summer we've been enjoying.
I'd been to the music session, of course, made all the more enjoyable today by the host's laying on sangria and finger food (yummy!). We discussed arrangements for marking the Group's fifteenth anniversary, and began the process of deciding a destination for next year's trip away (London, Vienna, Paris are in the mix, as are the Wexford and Glyndebourne Festivals, either as an alternative to the usual trip or as an additional outing).
I stopped off in town on the way home afterwards, anxious to treat myself to a new book. I'd caught coverage last week of the BBC's Samuel Johnson Prize for Non-Fiction, and had decided to see if I could get any of the short-listed titles. I tracked down Too Big to Fail, and look forward to tut-tut-ing my way through its pages.
