Amish girls

Mesopotamia is a small, mostly Amish community about an hour from our home. Every year on the July 4th weekend, it has become one of our traditions to go to the ox roast put on by the Mesopotamia volunteer fire company. Today Mike, Alison, Michael, Emmy, Bob, and I drove out together. We headed first to the food tent to get our lunch of barbecued beef sandwiches, french fries, and lemonade. None of that is on my regular diet, but today I made an exception, even though, with the temperature above 90 degrees and the humidity soaring, it was almost too hot to think about food.

With our appetites satisfied, we toured the flea market set up around the area they call the "Commons". My only purchase was a back scratcher like the one Mike bought at the ox roast last year. The ox roast is a great place for photo opps. If it hadn't been so hot, we would have stayed longer, and I would have taken more pictures. Maybe next year! Still it was a fun afternoon, and because of the heat combined with our big lunch, we hardly needed any supper tonight.

I thought long and hard before posting this blip because of two issues. I like this picture so much, but I am not sure about the ethics of posting pictures without permission of the subjects, especially children. Can any other blippers enlighten me about this? The second issue is that I altered the original by cloning out the legs of people who were standing behind the girls. You can see the original here . I know there are differences in opinion about both these issues. I read a little of the conversation on Barking's journal the other day. I can accept that there are different thoughts on one or both of the issues, but does anyone know the right or wrong about it? The deer, herons, and wildlife I blip most often don't seem to care about these things, but I am interested in doing more people portraits, and I need to know where the line is drawn. What should I post and what shouldn't I? Input anyone???
