Chaveywell
This was taken very near to the site of yesterday's blip in Castlefields Park, but is not the river Marden but a short length of canal that has been restored and now forms part of a nature reserve. The Calne Branch of the Wilts and Berks Canal was used in the nineteenth century to bring cheap coal to the town and to export bricks and stones and other goods, but fell into sudden disuse in 1901 after an aquaduct collapsed.
Sharing space with the lily pads in this secluded spot are this mallard and eight ducklings.
Needs large to see the detail.
