Meadow Pipit
We have hundreds of these birds on our top field. They are easily flushed out of the rushes and quickly take to the air calling nervously until you move on. Maybe it's not surprising that they are flighty as they are very important to the upland food chain, being preyed on by buzzards, peregrines, harriers, crows, foxes, stoats and weasels, as well as often being duped into raising cuckoo chicks.
