The end of an era

This is my mother-in-law who passed away peacefully this morning aged 95!

She had a good war - as a WRAF nco she served at RAF East Fortune, working in the met office as planes from Fighter Command and Coastal Command flew many missions from the airfield.

Joan was born in the south of England - and so coming to Scotland in war service was, for a girl in her 20's, a big adventure. Bigger than she planned, since she married and spent the rest of her life here.

And within the family she was the last of that generation.
