Buddy

Some people think that you have a hole in your heart if you don't own an animal. If that's the case, then we have holes in our hearts. We don't own an animal. But we did have the privilege of spending some time with one of the coolest animals that we have ever met this evening.

This is Buddy. He is a friend of the family. We love him. Buddy is one of the most gentle animals on the planet. He is wonderful with babies, kids, adults, and other animals. If you give him a command, he follows it. His good nature is always predictable. And that's a very good quality to have in a dog.

Buddy spent a little time at our house this evening. Because of the blasting 100 degree heat at 6:30pm, we let him come inside to spend some time with us. I know, my people are thinking right now, "WHAT? You let him inside? What about your allergies?" Hey, I may have a hole in my heart because I don't have an animal but there's no way I was going to let Buddy suffer in that smoldering heat outside.

So my kids spoiled him. It's funny to watch them interact with him due to the fact that we have never had animals. They very carefully pet him and hugged him. Soon they were calling him to come here, to go there. And he did whatever he was told. My son did insist upon sitting on top of the kitchen table while eating his dinner, but for once I didn't object because I knew that he was getting used to the idea of having the dog in our house.

So I will publicly apologize to our friends right now, Buddy was given some doggy treats tonight. A couple few of them. Is that bad? I hope not. And you know what, I think that that hole in my heart is a bit smaller now. Yay for that!
