He's currently lying in his cot peeping peacefully away as he sleeps but spent most of the available three-hour window between eight and eleven wailing his wee head off with only a couple of breaks to look like he was going to fall asleep before resuming. At least for a couple of hours after I got home he was pleasingly calm, alert and did the thing he does where he vaguely looks and sounds like he might realise you're attempting to communicate with him through a medium other than milk, though the downside is that he becomes immediately upset if it looks like you're trying to take your eyes off his in order to be able to more accurately direct the spoon lifting curry into your mouth from the bowl on your lap. He still lacks reliable neck-control so there's a risk that leaving hands which have touched curry or chopped a chilli within his personal space will result in a head flopped suddenly in the direction least expected and a spicy thumb accidentally jabbing a junior eyeball, so he shall have to get used to being kept out of harm's way when people are eating.
