Walking Day

Originally, Walking Days in Warrington came about as a way of opposing the evils of horse racing - because many men wasted their wages on betting. Local clergy thought that a Walking Day where children were expected to parade in their Sunday best would encourage families to use their money sensibly.

Today's Walking Day was in the village of Stockton Heath.
