Samppalinna open-air swimming pool
This is the place I go for my morning swims. With water temperature around 26C it feels very refreshing in the morning.
Today I did not go for a morning swim. Instead, we had a very relaxed morning. All woke up well after nine o'clock, had some breakfast and the princesses went for a nap.
I read 'Tunturien yöpuolta' by Samuli Paulaharju. It's a collection of ancient tales from the Sámi people. Lovely stories. Scary ones too. Most of the stories are happening to local shamans. The book is written on 1934 and I have a copy of the first print.
The language written and/or used at the times does feel a bit funny. For example in the book the people speak of 'grain' when they mean everything living that one can bring to the table, including fish, birds and deers among others.
'Tunturien yöpuolta' is, as the title says ('Night sides of the mountains') a collection of short stories which tell stories as they would be told in Lapland. Thinking of telling one story each night while hiking in Norway. Don't know whether people would respect that or not.
Some of the stories are a bit scary. Most of them have happy ending, though.
After the naps my darlings had, we went for a walk. Bought two salads from Sipuli-Täti for lunch and headed to Samppalinna outdoor swimming pool.
There we selected a rather shadowy grassy location for us to hang around. Spending there few hours we had time long enough for both of us to swim, eat and play with the little princess.
What a lovely day.
The day ended by watching the Football World Championship match of the bronze medal. This game, more or less, is the reason I want to watch football. Excellent sport. What a games we have been able to witness:
* Uruguay - Ghana -> the last second drama
* Germany - Argentina -> the slaughter by the Germans
* Spain - Paraguay -> All the drama with two missed penalty kicks. And what a goal by David Villa
Then the semi-finals which were good too. But no worth mention about
Tomorrow evening is going to be big.
Supposedly, even Uruguay cannot do the last-second magic twice in the same tournament.
