Six hours along the northern coastline of Taiwan on a motorcycle = one hell of a day!
Riding through Taipei city was more of a bar brawl fought on wheels than a relaxing Sunday ride. This is quite possibly the highest concentration of scooters anywhere in the world and I could probably say the same about insane riders. Suffice to say, it makes for a wild ride!
I got off to a bit of a shaky start not having ridden since I left Aus (10 weeks ago). To further exacerbate the situation they drive on the opposite side of the road here and my bike had flat tires!
Our first stop was at an old temple by the sea. The water was gorgeous and the sweltering heat made it hard to resist a swim. Unfortunatly we didn't have the time.
The roads were beautiful and the weather was perfect. You could see the coastline almost the whole way. It was great to be on a motorcycle again and it brought back many fond memories.
Our return journey brought us through Keelung and it was even crazier than Taipei. I remember at one point we were passing a bus through a gap so small that my footpegs were grinding on the curb. I'm glad we made it back in one piece, for awhile there I wasn't sure that we would!
