No need for a macro lens if the subject is big!
More bug pictures today. Gizmodo is having another shooting challenge focused on bugs/insects so this was my entry. I originally thought it might be a cicada, but it seemed too long (~2"). After searching on google for insects with feathery antenna I identified this bug as a 'fishfly'. And only the male has feathery antenna... used in detecting the pheromones of the females.
SHOT NOTES: Again, no need for a macro lens if you can find a big enough bug and get close enough! My Pen 40/1.4 allows me to focus about 1' away and this sucker was big! I took the photo at f8 to get enough of it in focus... then just cropped and auto adjusted levels.
