Cloudscape
It was too hot to leave the flat today. I tried, but turned back once I'd reached the bottom of the road. The thermometer read 32C in the shade and 38C in the sun. The guinea pigs were well shaded and had a couple of ice packs to lean against. Omar stayed in the shade all day and ate bits of cold melon and cucumber. Whisky cat wilted under a shady hedge. I decided to paint the bedroom, making myself useful while trapped in the flat.
In the evening it was cool enough to venture outside. Fred and I jumped on a train and headed to London Bridge to walk along the South Bank. The sky and light were stunning.
We ended up at Udderbelly, the upside-down inflatable purple cow that houses events beside the Royal Festival Hall, to see the late-night comedy and cabaret. Some of the acts were quite bizarre, but there were a couple that were superb. The comedian Steve Hughes we'd seen before and he was as hilarious as the first time we'd seen him. Then there was Ireland's 7th most popular hip-hop band (so they said), Abandoman.
