Hazel Nuts
Heavy rain today and therefore my search for White-letter Hairstreaks was fruitless. I did, however, go and check out the habitat where I found one yesterday. They are associated with Wych Hazel trees where they feed on the honeydew from aphids which frequent the trees. I didn't find the Wych Hazel but I did find some hazel trees and plenty of their common food plant (Creeping Thistle) so I shall be there tomorrow if it's sunny.
In the meantime I had to be content with photgraphing the fruits of the Hazel tree.
