Concert Hall

Last minute blip as we sat in the concert hall at Western Washington University's Performing Arts Center. We were anticipating a recital by Heidi Grant Murphy, Kevin Murphy and Joshua Roman.

The concert was fantastic. The last piece is one of my favorites, the Villa-Lobos Bachianas Brasileiras #5. It has two parts, Aria and Dansa. I've sung the aria and I love it. The Dansa is really difficult and Heidi did an amazing job. The piece is usually scored for eight cellos and soprano. There is also a guitar and soprano version. This was an unusual arrangement for one cello, piano and soprano. Really great. What a treat to hear these three great performers together on the same piece.
