Passing under this small, humble sign takes you into Abu Serga Church in Old Cairo.

This church dates back to the 4th century and is believed to be one of the places where the Holy Family rested during their stay in Egypt.

The walls are full of faith and the icons are brimming with prayers. The air is still, quiet and cool. The pews are dark with age, the pillars swept soft by hands and time. There is so much here. So much history. So much beauty. So much belief.

I said a small prayer as I walked in. And feel blessed for having been there. For having walked under this sign.
