La Mola

Today we went to look around Fortalesa Isabel II, known as La Mola, a hilltop fortress guarding the entrance to Mahon harbour (incidentally the second largest in the world after Pearl Harbour). Acres of semi-ruined buildings and miles of underground chambers connected by a maze of dark corridors. Stupidly I forgot my tripod so a decent shot in there was impossible, so I'm going with the big Vickers gun at the highest point of the fortress. #2 son is over 6 foot tall so you can guess the scale. Think this makes up for the humiliation by llama yesterday - this bad boy will increase his Facebook cred massively.

ps: interesting that you can sit astride a massive Cannon but not a Nikon....
