New School

James had a full induction day today at his new school.

There were about half of the new students there today - most of them fairly nervous! But not so James!

His new form tutor is Head of ICT for the school. James has already told him that he knows *all* about computers ... and the teacher was grinning when he told me of this conversation. He said he will make sure James is challenged at school. He also said there is a Year 9 club that would be perfect for James - Game Maker - and he told me about an obscure website that the students use to create games. It sounded strangely familiar ... yoyogames!

I said James had used a website to create a game about a year ago ... and he said confidently 'it won't be this one' ... I called James over and asked him which site he'd used ... 'yoyo games' he replied.

The teacher was good - he only paused for a second before saying "oh well that's OK then ..." (but you could tell he was slightly taken aback).

He's set James a challenge of making a game like 'breakout' with certain stipulations - he wants a proper scoring system, 5 lives and a paddle that changes size and speed and stuff ... and he'd like it when James starts properly in September.

James is well on his way already!
