Pain

Today was one of those days when I was pretty unexpectedly hit by something that felt very difficult.

We all know that life hurts, but some of those hurts, or griefs, never really diminish. We perhaps just get better at believing it will pass. But it can be just as overwhelming no matter how many years pass.

Now. If a friend told me she was hurting that way, the last thing I'd suggest is an evening stroll in the local graveyard! But, actually, it was just the ticket. I knew I wouldn't have to make any conversation, and I felt soothed by the face of this little stone angel beside one of the graves.
