Nothing for miles

Forget anything I have said up until now about being in the middle of nowhere. Today we really were in places that there was nothing for miles.

I become a big scaredy cat when we're in places like this. I'm terrified that we run out of fuel. We end up stopping at every petrol station we see and filling up a tank that is still 3/4 full.

We were staying in Lee's Ferry. Half way on our route to the Grand Canyon in a really cute small lodge with 12 rooms, 4 of which were occupied with people who had the same surname as me, Lewis. Confused the check in lady no end.

One tip for budgeting. If you are on a tight budget like us, remember that not all pre booked hotel rooms have been paid for. We booked most of our accommodation before we left the UK, and 95% of it paid. Not at Lee's Ferry, there was the days budget blown in one swoop.
