love the specs!
we visited a travelling exhibition on Pompeii today. First stop was the 3-D movie and here we are, armed with our special glasses, awaiting entry to the next screening.
I saw the exhibition in Melbourne 6 months ago and was disappointed at Perth's take on the same material. Still interesting, but there seemed to be whole sections missing like the volcanology and geology of Mt Vesuvius.
My 2 big kids engaged in the topic and enjoyed it, but their friends quickly bored of the fairly dry delivery. The comment on the 3-D movie - where was the story? No car chases or excitment, but instead a timelapse of one point in the city as it was tragically overwhelmed by ash and the dreaded pyro-plastic cloud.
I couldn't help but think about the volcanic ash scenes in Iceland just a few months ago, it all seems more real than it did when I learnt about the subject as a kid.
