Rain again
Today the heavens really opened. I took this shot at around midday - my little weather station tells me that in this hour 24mm (1") of rain fell, bringing the daily total (so far) to 33mm: this is more than the whole of June; in July we have already had more rain than the previous 3 months combined.
However, compared to the floods that hit Cumbria late last year, this is nothing: Seathwaite in the Lake District recorded 316mm (9.3") in 24 hours.
Amazingly, even this pails into insignificance when one considers the Maharashta floods of 2005 in Mumbai, India: here they saw an incredible 994mm (39.1") in a 24 hour period.
