Today's the day ................ to go on a train

Went on a museum training course today in Manchester and so went by train. Had to change in Preston - a hub of the railway world, with trains to all sorts of wonderful sounding places.

It has a special plaque in the waiting room saying how many thousands of soldiers passed through the station during the course of the second world war - and they all received free refreshments, served by volunteers round the clock, to help them on their way.

The station is full of brightly painted metal work - a very cheerful place!
