Northern Roots

Grotty grubby grimy bricks spread like disease in mangled veins,
That twist and snap in fountainous spillage into slimy shiny drains.
To meander the sewers far beneath, slurried rivers beneath my boots.
Guess it's difficult to cherish a love that hurts, but to me this is my roots.
