on my way to the ball game

The sign reads: Edison (1847-1931) rented a room in this house. As a young man he conducted experiments, often all night, then walked to his job as telegraph operator at 58 West Main Street. Experimenting at work he spilled acid and was fired. He left Louisville and later developed over 1000 patents for such devices as phonograph and microphone. Over.

Now, I know the "Over" means to direct the reader to look at the other side of the sign, but I thought it almost ties in with the telegraph operator thing in a really clever way except for that "over" is more of a walkie-talkie/military thing and "stop" is more of a telegraph thing.

So I lose on that count.

I like the fact that Tom got fired for spilling acid but don't like the fact that he got credit for other people's hard work.

anyway, I walked past this on the way to the baseball field this evening ($1 beers pre-game!!!!) and very much enjoyed the walk which is only four blocks. I love my apartment because it is so damn close to everything. And because it is pretty.

Not because flies come in through the gaps in my pre-civil war windows... glech.
