Hurghada
Today we decided to go on an organised tour of the city of Hurghada. On the tour we:
Learnt more about the Egyptian, life, land and politics from Sammy our Red Sea rep
Visited a government run perfumery where they explained about extracting the oils from flowers and spices to make the essential oils used by all the world famous perfume houses.
Next we moved onto a big "mall" where we could buy souvenirs safe in the knowledge of the quality and price, egyptian shopping for the faint hearted who couldn't handle the markets.
Next on our tour was a stop off at a small bay where we learnt about Hurgadha's origins as a small fishing port where the merchants gathered before heading back to china, a very different view to the current day.
There is recently a new arena opened in Hurghada, featuring masses of yachts, night-cubs and pubs. However strangely enough (for british culture) they are also in the process of building the city's largest mosque next door! And even though its not finished it is currently being used.
Then after a short walk through the marina we were back on the bus to visit another mosque, of which I have decided to use as todays blip!
The final stop of the tour was an early evening wander round Hurgadha's old town with plenty of shopping and people watching opportunities.
P.S. I will post a flickr link when I have done my back-blipping!
