Members of the youth group from our church set off on their annual mission trip this morning. Along with two adult chaperones, they traveled half-way to their destination today, finishing the journey tomorrow. Once there they will join with young people from other states to provide help to people who need it, e.g. painting, child care, cleaning, hammering, nailing, yard work, etc. Our youngest grandson is part of the youth mission group this year, so we went to see them off this morning.

Linda is the youth director responsible for all the details, big and little, that will make the trip a success. I think that accounts for the slightly harassed look on her face as she ticks off the items on her mental list:
>permission slips-tick!
>medical forms-tick!
>registration for the rented vans-tick!
>etc-etc-etc!

What a responsibility, and what a blessing this trip will be for the young people and for the families they help.

Weather update: The past few days have been hot and sticky in Ohio, but right now, after a fantastic sunset, clouds have rolled in, thunder is rumbling, and lightning is flashing. Let's hope that means rain because we definitely need it.
