My Setup
This is the current setup for doing time-lapse photography. The goal is to manipulate the humidity inside the aquarium. Why?
The seeds, porcupine seed, needle-and-thead seed, Stipa, Hesperostipa (all the same thing) have those long tails you saw yesterday. It's well known that they curl up after falling off the plant and it's said that they curl and uncurl due to humidity, but I've found nothing published showing any kinds of experiments on this.
So that's what I'm doing. Using time-lapse, I'll be able to observe the changes in the curliness of the awns (those long tails sticking up) while humidity changes (with a wet sponge and with dessicant silica gel), once I get a hygrometer. Will the awns curl and uncurl? Let's hope so.
