More Fossils
Proper Scottish summer weather today: it hasn't stop raining at all. It meant a change of plans for the morning (from something fun and outdoors to playing computer games indoors) but afternoon plans were for inside anyway. This is a photo of the fossil table at the Hugh Miller Cottage in Cromarty.
Hugh Miller was a famous self-taught Scottish geologist in the early 19th century and spent years finding fossils around the UK. He was a very passionate Christian who did believe in a benevolent Creator but that the Earth had been around for millions of years and species had come into being and then died out with no form of evolution. He helped found the Free Church of Scotland.
He died by his own hand while suffering from some form of suspected brain disease a few years before Charles Darwin's publication of On the Origin of the Species.
