Picnicking on Strawberry Fields

I flew from the Galapagos on Tuesday and on to NYC the next day, where my wife met me. This morning I visited the Metropolitan Museum (including a wonderful show of Picasso from their own holdings).

On the way back to the hotel through Central Park I passed this area, adjacent to the building where John Lennon was murdered. It must have received its name soon afterward; the memorial nearby attracts many visitors. And it's a great area for birding.
