1963 Chrysler Turbine Car

Today I was looking through some of my vintage automobilia and ran across two Chrysler Turbine NOS brochures.

I placed the two covers front to back to get a complete car photo, which kept me from bending them back and possibly damaging the mint brochures.

The Chrysler Turbine Cars were automobiles powered by gas turbine engines that the Chrysler Corporation assembled in a small plant in Detroit, MI in 1963, for use in the only consumer test of gas turbine-powered cars.

It was the high point of Chrysler's decades-long project to build a practical turbine-powered car.

Only two Chrysler Turbine Cars are in the hands of private collectors and one is owned by comedian and Tonight Show host, Jay Leno.
