Wellies

I woke up a few times during the night to the sound of thunder and rain and this morning it was still raining. I got to wear a jacket for the first time since the end of May. We had planned to visit the Hatchery before grocery shopping, and we did. Except we didn't go for a walk; we ran over to the showpond, assessed the situation ("do you want to get soaking wet?" "no, do you?" "hell no") and ran back to the car. Off to the shops.
The Aldi here is much the same as it is in the Netherlands: cheap food and random bulk sales. I splurge on (German) chocolate there because my spoiled delicate tastebuds can't stand Hershey's. Today they had women's wellies. I don't think I've worn wellies since 1978, but I've always wanted to be the kind of woman who had them in the trunk of her car to put on while walking the dogs.

And they were only 10 bucks.
And they were cute.
And seeing how it was still raining rather splendidly, wouldn't it be fun to do a Blip about them and take a photo of me in a puddle with an umbrella?

It was decided.

Went home, rain turned into drizzle, drizzle turned into cloudy, cloudy turned into bright sunshine and right now everything is steam-drying at 86 degrees. I wore them on my increasingly sweaty feet as we went around the forest, though, and walked through 3 puddles. Woot!
