Staying in Waterville, Co Kerry, this week: Charlie Chaplin was a regular apparently (more later in the week), but this plaque is today's blip.

I never realised how many transatlantic cables came ashore in Ireland, apparently three in this small area alone.

It was Morse telegraph to start, but today we have the binary optical fibres instead. Hard to believe these cables only ceased operation recently, 1966 for this one.
