After the Ride

Today was the annual Gala Day in our Village. After months of preparation,floats and fancy dress costumes were assembled,judged and then proudly paraded from the top of the Village down to the Village Hall, a good mile long amble in fleeting sunshine. On the village playing fields a visiting fairground where you could 'hook-a-duck',try your luck with the darts or go on rides big and small. Today there was a new ride- it took you up high and dropped you down fast,shook you from side to side-stomach churning to watch -even worse to be a passenger..the look on my son's face afterwards kind of sums it up.....
