Birthday Boy's Belated Blip

Celebrated my birthday in fine style yesterday. Didn't get home till late hence the late blip.

Day started with coffee at Costa for elevenses and then we headed for the Deva stadium to see Chester FC's first home game there since the club was reformed. Given that it was a pre season friendly there were 1100 there which is very healthy. The stadium was in great shape thanks the the small army of volunteers who had prepared it. The main thing was that we were playing football there again. It was good to see lots of familiar faces have come back and probably even more importantly it was good to see so many new ones, we will need them all. Oh and we won, however you get no points from winning pre-season friendlies.

Then we headed for the open air theatre in the Grosvenor Park where a fine cast gave an excellent performance of Much Ado About Nothing. The production was very good and even the weather, apart from one light shower in Act 1 behaved itself.

Earlier, as we walked along The Groves to the Park we saw that one of the rhino had been substituted by the one photographed here. Hopefully the original will be bakc, repaired, in his usual spot. As you can see all the rhino are popular with the people of the city.
