Sunday Craving

Lazy Sunday with my sister and we both craved for Shawarma. So we dragged ourselves inside the New Central Bus Station and waited for the stall to open. We wasted almost an hour waiting but it was all worth it.

Here in Israel, Shawarma is a street food and usually offered in meat restaurants. Introduced by Mizrachi Jews and Arab citizens of Israel, the dish has become well-known to the locals. Often the rotating skewer is placed at the front of the fast-food stand, exposed to the street. Shawarma is served in a pita or a lafa or esh tanur as they call it in Jerusalem and is usually eaten with salad and hummus. One of the condiments in demand is Amba.

With our 27 shekels or roughly $7 USD, we enjoyed this Shawarma with 2 Liters of Diet Coke and I wonder if we could still eat dinner later. It was quite big for my tummy to handle.

So there you go, for Lazy Sunday craving, Shawarma Israeli Style.

Happy Sunday!
